Built Different, a black-and-white solo photography show, examines the logic embedded in the urban landscape. Focusing on brickwork, graffiti, industrial surfaces, and architectural grids, I isolate fragments of the built environment and reframe them as studies in repetition, contrast, and form. Stripped of color, the images emphasize structure and rhythm, allowing overlooked details to surface with clarity. When assembled, the photographs converge into larger visual systems, revealing order within what might otherwise register as visual noise. This series reflects on construction in multiple senses, of cities, of environments, and of perception itself.

Artist Bio
Gina Gaiser is an Oakland-based artist working primarily in photography and digital media. Her practice is rooted in experimentation, with technology functioning as an active collaborator in the development of each image. She photographs Oakland daily, drawn to the overlooked details of the urban environment and the ways human intervention reshapes landscape and space. Gaiser earned her BA in Studio Art from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and studied printmaking and art history at Il Bisonte in Florence, Italy. She later received an MFA in Digital Media, Video, and Sculpture from Mills College. Gaiser co-founded the artist collective Ben Dunne Presents, was a Member Artist at GearBox Gallery, and currently works at Compound Studios in Emeryville while serving as a partner at Manna Gallery in Oakland.
